When the son of a single mother in Olympia Brown's congregation learns his father is a Catholic priest, all hell breaks loose. Olympia rallies the usual suspects, but is it enough to keep everything from exploding? The Priest, a good man who never knew he had a son until now, is determined to fin a way forward that includes his son. The church hierarchy has other ideas. Now, mother, son and Father Pete find them selves at a turning point in their lives...and Olympia is running out of options. Meanwhile, the music director of the church she is serving, is doing his damndest to get her fired, only to learn he is fighting with a double edged sword that will cut both ways. This is not quite a mystery but it is, filled with intrigue, revenge and reconciliation, staffed with familiar well-drawn characters woven into a tightly knit plot that pulls the reader deep into the well-springs of human experience.
